In 2021, I took part in the curation and exhibition visual design for Unbuilt Worlds: Thematic Exhibition of Beijing Urban and Architecture Biennale 2021 (BUAB).
For centuries, numerous architects’ unbuilt proposals, paper‑architecture works and thought‑experiments have carried intellectual influence no less significant than fully‑realised built works. In the contemporary era, architects’ speculative, unrealised architectural visions are poised to exert broader professional and social impact than unbuilt projects of the past.
Translating the abstract architectural speculation of “the unbuilt” into tangible visual language, this visual design takes the ideas of artist M. C. Escher as its point of departure to conceptualise the connections between the physical world and virtual space.
