TTTB Artist-Run Space is a site-specific art space co-founded in 2021 by nine young artists from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. “TB,” short for “terabyte”, is a unit of digital storage. “Two Trillion TB” evokes both an inclusive utopian ideal and the monstrous scale of today’s networked world. Artist-run initiatives have existed in various forms since the nineteenth century and continue to offer alternatives to institutional and commercial structures of art. At their core is the possibility for artists to retain agency over how art is produced, presented, and discussed—to cultivate what Lotte van Geijn has described as the “art world’s topsoil,” or, in another sense, the ground from which art emerges. TTTB seeks to provide conditions for artistic presentation beyond conventional, fixed exhibition formats—unconstrained by physical venues, market obligations, or publicity imperatives. We believe that critical reflection and open discussion are fundamental to the survival and development of artistic practice. As a curatorial collective, TTTB aims to sustain an open intellectual environment in which questions concerning the conditions, tensions, and possible futures of contemporary art can be discussed.
TTTB focuses on artistic practices emerging within and in response to networked culture. Its activities encompass research, documentation, artistic production, situated practices, publicness, independent publishing, salons and discussions, fetishism, archives, and archival practices. The space regularly organizes exhibitions, discussions, and presentations of artists’ publications, while initiating connections and collaborations across geographical locations. Rather than reinforcing established forms through which art is instrumentalized, TTTB seeks to preserve the possibility of experimentation, friction, and even provocation. It remains alert to any force that might render a project overly rigid or predetermined. For TTTB, research is a form of search. We hope to continue this process of inquiry together with artists.

TTTB Visual publications, 2021 -- 2023
Visual publications are one of the TTTB team’s curatorial approaches.
We practise the philosophy that action speaks louder than words, and the team believes that visual publications will empower thematic research, writing, discussion, exhibition curation and archiving within the field of contemporary art.
